Back to back weekends of great racing are up next in the GCS races starting in Athens and ending in Sandy Springs. The Georgia Championship Series (GCS) brings the best events in Georgia together for a year-long points competition. Come suppport the communities, event directors, volunteers and sponsors that make great bicycle racing happen!

The two weekends have over $50,000 in prize money and great payouts for all categories. In addition, the series will award $20,000 at season’s end – $7,500 in cash and $12,500 in merchandise – along with awards and recognition at the awards party immediately after the final race in Dahlonega.

April 30 – Jittery Joe’s Amateur Races at the 32nd Terrapin Twilight Criterium

Saturday morning racing returns to Athens’ in-town neighborhoods with this challenging course located near the Oconee River Greenway. Riders can qualify Saturday morning at the Jittery Joe’s Twilight AM Races Presented by The Georgia Center for the finals Saturday night at the Terrapin Twilight Criterium! The Jittery Joe’s Twilight Amateur Finals Presented by The Georgia Center is the kick-off for Saturday night’s downtown feature events. The top finishers from the Twilight AM qualifying races will take to the streets Saturday night and compete for $2,000 in cash.

May 1 –
 Historic Roswell Criterium
Come race in front of thousands of spectators and beneath the 150 year old trees of downtown Historic Roswell. Enjoy the spectacular family friendly course with on-couse restaurants, shopping, art galleries, and antique stores. And don’t forget the children’s bicycle safety rodeo and kid’s races sponsored by the Roswell Kiwanis Club.

May 7 – ProGold Macon Cycling Classic – State Criterium Championship

The ProGold Macon Cycling Classic Criterium is back in 2011. On Saturday, May 7th in Macon GA, over $9000 in cash and merchandise will be at stake with equal Payout for women’s P123 and men’s P12 categories! Besides being the 2011 Georgia State Criterium Championship, the race is part of the Lance Armstrong Junior Race Series. The 1.1 kilometer 4-corner course is around the perimeter of shady Tattnall Square Park. Bring the family, as beautiful Mercer University backs the finishing straight and Mercer Village, complete with shopping, scrumptious eats and delicious Jittery Joes coffee, is a two minute walk. Macon boasts the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame and Georgia Music Hall of Fame as well as many other cultural and historic attractions. The first 300 registered racers receive a FREE bottle of Pro Link lube!

May 8 – Global Imports Sandy Springs Cycling Challenge
If you haven’t raced this event you have missed one of the most fun criterium courses around. It’s unique course featuring the Col du Sandy Springs finish provides a great racing venue in the heart of metro Atlanta. Join us for a full day of family fun at the 4th Annual Global Imports Sandy Springs Cycling Challenge, which features the bestamateur prizelist in the GCS and a full day of activities. After the races, please enjoy the Mother’s Day Track Side Dining Area, with a variety of Sandy Springs eateries as well as a first class Art Show.

USAC Augusta
 Georgia State Time Trial Championships

The state Time Trial Champioships will be held in conjunction with the National Championships in Augusta.  Riders register through USA Cycling’s website .  Enter the applicable USAC class on their site. Georgia class results for the State TT will be pulled from the USA Cycling database  (Cat3, Cat 4, Masters age groups, etc.). Be sure this info on USA Cycling is up to date!
