8/5 Ride In Honor of Tina Waddell: Attack Victim on SCT

TUESDAY, AUGUST 5TH—-  MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!!

If you are a cyclist like me, then you probably have a special connection to the Silver Comet Trail (SCT).  So, when the news of Tina Waddell was severely beaten 2 days ago and left for dead, it struck the same emotional cord (at least for me) as when Jennifer Ewing was killed in 2006.

Photos released by the family.

That said, I was contacted about the idea of having a bike ride on the SCT next week (Tues, Aug 5th) in honor of Tina, to bring awareness of this incident and safety on the SCT, and also to raise money to help the Waddell family.  Without hesitation, I texted back ‘YES’, I was definitely in.

Needless to say, this is being thrown together at a very quick pace, but as details are confirmed, I’ll continue to post.

For many, it’s not easy to clear your calendar on a weekday and with such a short notice, but we hope you will hep spread the word about this event.

DETAILS SO FAR—

<<Tentative>> Leave the Publix shopping center parking lot, at
4480 S. Cobb Drive, Smyrna  the corner of the East/WestScreen Shot 2014-08-01 at 9.43.02 AM Connector and S. Cobb Drive at 6:00am on Tuesday, Aug 5th.  The goal is to ride the whole SCT but if you cannot for any reason, at least come out and ride as much as time permits.

Help us spread the word and get a seriously large group to ride for Tina.
