Here are details you need to know regarding the Tom Duncan Memorial Ride this Saturday.

DATE—

Hop City
1010 White Street, Atlanta, GA

RIDE START—
9:30am

AGENDA—
<<<PLEASE>>>  arrive early enough to ensure you are “ready to ride” no later than 9:10.  

9:10   – Staging of cyclists for ride procession.

9:15    – Tom Duncan Family Introduction
– Mayor of East Point
– Ride Logistics

9:30   – Memorial Ride begins

WHAT TO EXPECT—
1: Please remain silent during the entirety of the memorial ride.

2: This will be a funeral processional ride with all cyclists staying together. A police escort will be provided to ensure safety throughout the route.

   <<<<SPECIAL REQUEST>>>>  PLEASE WEAR ALL BLACK CLOTHING, OR AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE…

3: We will ride to the crash site, approximately 2 miles from Hop City. There will be a short ceremony, which will include the placement of a ghost bike.  For those who want to only attend the ceremony 

WHY ATTEND???
We are asking all cyclists across metro Atlanta to forego your normal ride on Dec 30th, to join this memorial ride.  Two reasons:  1. to show support to the family of Tom Duncan that we as a cycling community, mourn the loss of one of our own, and 2. to create the largest “visual” image of cyclists across Atlanta of a fallen comrade, that the media, local and state government cannot ignore. It’s just a fact, a small memorial ride will never get the attention of the media and nothing will ever change (for the good) regarding sharing the road, etc. and to help protect and ensure our desire to return home after every ride.

We can only do TOGETHER what each of our cycling clubs/groups can never do individually;  demand a change in laws, enforcement of the 3-Ft Law, etc. in order to make streets safer to ride and if tragedy occurs again (and we all pray it doesn’t), that those at fault will be appropriately changed and actually held accountable.

There will always be a ride we can go join but your attendance will make a bigger impact (for all of us) than the miles you would have ridden somewhere else. You will be riding in honor of Tom, but you will also be riding for YOU!!!

This is a grassroots effort to demand change at a scale and effort never seen before. WE NEED YOU…
